I marked Patrick Troughton's 100th birthday by watching series two of this psychotronic Aztec tale. It's pretty full-on stuff, even for 1970s children's telly, with an oppressive atmosphere that comes from being entirely studio-bound and almost entirely interior settings - the only indication we have of sunlight is a torture-by-exposure sequence. And full of torture and murder and religious mania this series is. Especially memorable are the opening titles and the music that accompanies them. Splendid stuff.
