A late contender for best telly programme of the year came with Mackenzie Crook's 2 hours of living scarecrow fantasy. I think this is a truly charming little masterpiece to rank alongside Wallace & Gromit and the Paddington movies, beautifully done in all departments, perfectly cast and really funny.

I haven't seen it myself, but I read some scathing reviews. Presumably from the 'why do they have to remake a classic?' brigade.
