As I never take Tweets from strangers I'm in the dark as to whether anything is being done to restore the old forum. Perhaps if it were known that it's gone for good, more folks would be encouraged to join in here.
There seem to be all types of all types on there. Anyway it seems far better than FB, judging from my activity there in the past couple of days. The eejit mentioned above was also a member, but hasn't shown up there for a few years now, which seems a good sign, too.
I might see if I can engender some discussion based on my recent watchings of BEHEMOTH THE SEA MONSTER and FOUR SIDED TRIANGLE. One of the things that dissuades me, given the current circumstances, is that I spend a large part of the day with my eyes fixed on a laptop, or worse "the Moby". I haven't seen further than the length of my arm for a month.
Is there anything even similar to the CHFB though? It's US-centric t'be sure, but it's a forum, which makes it better than FB groups in the sense that it gives the impression of permanence and continuity. FB is the same old slam-bang thank you ma'am every day. Another photo of Peter Cushing as Van Helsing. No rhyme or reason, but people respond with emoticons of teddy bears with hearts instead of eyes. We could of course try to keep this place going, but I think the fire's nearly out and might need expert fanning from more than one.
Well, I'm plugging away with me Voodoo and Mal's here almost daily, others who pop in include Moods, Wabrit, Sinny and your guid selfie, as well as Gappo and Moo. Even Darrell sometimes comes here! But we could probably do with more fannies.
Sound advice is given above - don't dwell on the past, adapt to change, move ahead, keep up with the times - and I am trying.
Having said that, I just feel the need to have a rant about my fruitless search for anywhere online that provides anything remotely like the 'spirit' of the old board.
I've joined a number of FB groups (some having ex BHFers among the members) dedicated wholly or partly to old British horror films, classic horror films, Euro-horror etc - but the average IQ of the majority of posters appears to be well below zero.
There's one group in particular which is worse still. Basically the admins and a small clique of their mates repeatedly (like month in, month out) reposting the same selfies taken in the company of ageing starlets at various film fairs etc and salacious pictures of said starlets in their "glory days".
Any talk about films mostly comprises superficial, endlessly repeated arguing about 'Scars of Dracula vs Dracula Prince of Darkness', or 'what's your favourite Amicus anthology story?' or' tonight I'm watching this classic' ( plus photo of TV screen), or 'what's the worst Hammer Frankenstein film?' etc. Most of the replies are composed of single sentences (or less) and too many threads consist of endless repetitions as nobody ever seems to read the preceding answers before replying.
The founder member is a humourless, up his own arse idiot, who responds to any posts he disagrees with (practically everything posted by those outside of his immediate buddies) in an insulting and disparaging way (at the least) or by deleting the 'offending' item and turning off comments.
I know what and who you mean. But that's FB in general. Apart from worthy contributions from the likes of Riggers and Higgers it's mostly a photo then the comment "Great film" to everything. How would you (and others) rate the Classic Horror Films Board?
Ah yes I know that group :-) Basically a massive ego-boosting exercise for the show runner. Caroline Munro is no doubt a charming person and I wish her well, but I feel like I've seen every picture of her that's ever been taken of her about 1000 times courtesy of that . It's a poor poor substitute for the BHF.
It might be worth contacting others that used to post on the BHF to let them know about this Forum. I don't have anyone's contact details, but some of you guys might - thought I'd suggest it, to boost the numbers here.
Yes, when you look up into the starry sky, you're seeing each star at a very different point in time, depending on how distant they are. More than half of them probably don't exist any more, and there are probably just as many new ones whose light has yet to reach us. It's enough to make your brain go supernova!
Yes, we're always looking into the past, thanks to the speed of light. When we look at the sun, that's the way it was 8 minutes ago. If we look at Pluto, that's the way it was a longer time ago. The aliens there can see "live" what we were doing in the past. And if we had police on Alpha Centauri, they could see who Jack the Ripper was.
I was away for a bit, moping about how we aren't in the olden days anymore, and I haven't seen a horror film since the old bored went down the jobby-tube, but I should spring back to life and post here more. You are my friends and we only live once. I'm sure of that. Reincarnation is poppy, cock. I bought Boris Karloff's DVD of Bedlam for 50 cents. He was in the street selling it. Dressed like he was out of a madhouse. I think it's a non-Bluray, looks amateur. The box says that it takes place in London 1976.
I have the feeling that we are now living in a post-BHF forum world. But we will always find ways to talk rubbish to each other about crusty old (and new) horror films, and thanks again to Darrell for making that easier! :)
I have to go to the birthday present link that CMM sent me on FB profile page to gain access. Then if someone posts something on a thread that I've been on, my phone rings and it tells me that so-and-so has commented on a thread of mine. It even tells me when I have commented - "Graham Watt has added..." I don't understand nuffink.
Thanks for seeing me, moods. I do miss the old days when you could play in the streets safely, and if you got lost you'd get taken home by a nice man such as Jimmy Savile or Rolf Harris. I will make an attempt to "get with it". Posting here is a step forward on the evolutionary scale, perhaps to amoeba level, but can anyone explain why I can only access this site via Facebook? Is this actually Facebook? Is it?
Is the eejit in question from Scotland by any chance?
I've never looked in on the CHFB forum. I suspect my strange brand of fannishness and my peculiar tastes would not go down too well there!
I've just revisited CHFB after a long absence. What's all the silly gold star nonsense?

But am I disheartened? Too bloody right.🙄

They may have ruled the earth but they made a right mess of climate change.
Yes, and aliens on really distant planets, with good telescopes, could see when dinosaurs ruled the earth. That must've been about 50 years ago now.

Testing...
Apparently we live in the future....it takes the brain one fifth of a second to process what we see, so we are seeing the future. Or summat.

Uncertainty over both the future of the BHF forum & Brexit are I'm convinced responsible for much social unrest.
Hello, another dinosaur has arrived, i'm not as fast as I used to be.
When you asre on the front page Watty just do an add to favourites and it will be there.
I'm e-mailed too no FB, which is horrendous on a smart phone. It's why the kid's use other stuff.
I've noticed there is no radio or audio section on this forurm. Oh City Hobgoblins.
Moo.

When I try to log in I get the message that I can do so via FB, Chrome or Email. I use the Email option
