Screened originally at FrightFest, I think, this 32-minute five-part anthology was also shown at Manchester's Festival of Fantastic Films about ten years ago. Never expected to see it again, but hey, here it is as an extra on the new Indicator Norman J. Warren box set. And most welcome too - it's a lot better than I'd remembered. From the faux-Italian NEON KILLER to the mini-folk-horror THE INITIATION, this is strong stuff and for once even the weaker episodes (THE FLEA, THE INCURSION) have their wild moments. NEON KILLER takes the prize for 'best gore effect', despite some stiff competition elsewhere. SMILE is a one-gag snippet but will be one that sticks in your mind (though Blu-ray might highlight the closing shot's reliance on sfx make-up a little too harshly). NJW has a ball presenting this, and his sidekick Darren Perry enjoys himself even more playing the perverted and pustule-covered gibbering psychotic projectionist, 'Reels'. One for the Pacamac Cup if we get around to running that again in early 2020.
