The twenties are just a few months away. Will the decade see even more low-budget British horror films being churned out, or might we have reached a peak? What new trends might emerge? Which old favourites will make a comeback? (the Tutankhamun exhibition might spawn a few 'mummy on the loose in London' flicks, maybe?) And could censorship be tightened during the next ten years, possibly having an effect on new output and content?

Heck, I can't even predict if democracy will survive the rise of the post-truth fascist propaganda that has somehow become mainstream culture. The British film industry might not even survive Brexit in its current form.
Thematic possibilities:
A resurgence of period Gothic horror as an escape from the actual horror that we are experiencing in our everyday lives.
A re-emergence of 70s eco horror as a response to climate crisis and Extinction Rebellion.
More Christian-themed religious propaganda movies which have a market in the USA that may spread here if people start grasping at religion to give them hope in increasingly desperate times.
More explicitly politicised films around feminism, LGBTQ culture, BAME culture and class warfare.
