I gave this Thorold Dickinson a spin last night and was pleased to find that it was the real deal, a properly effective, Hitchcockian suspenser that was fully-satisfying. I'd seen the Hollywood remake years ago and found it a tad dull but the British version is lean and focused with some enjoyable flashes of humour. If only the BBC adaptation of Patrick Hamilton's play starring Peter Cushing existed!

Agreed Mal the British version is an effective thriller, even if some of the undermining seems a little trite, but then it's the little details that begin to undermine someone. The murder in this is quite brutal as well, even now. I like the way gaslight is used and it's significance. And now it's been used a label (gas-lighting.) for an online act, in dating undermining someone to the point they doubt they become increasingly vulnerable and isolated, even their sanity.
Moo.
