Mid-70s children's drama from HTV-West and therefore a bit disturbing. Teenager Roland lives in a tower block, gets stuck in a lift and finds himself in a surreal castle trying to get out. There's a bit of mytholgy, a dollop of Kafka, some horror and a smattering of cod psychology. Milton Johns plays a sort of Frankenstein Monster. Fulton Mackay and Talfryn Thomas provide the most memorable performances, teenage Philip Da Costa is pretty wooden. Bob Baker and Dave Martin provide the script which, like most of their Doctor Who stories, could have done with losing an episode or two. Eagle-eyed viewers will spot that one of the bits of "rubbish" that Roland gets rid of in the finale is the Dracula - Prince of Darkness edition of House of Hammer magazine.
